Ann D. Murtlow is President and Chief Executive Officer of Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL). Indianapolis Power & Light Company is an integrated, regulated public utility serving approximately 470,000 retail customers in and around Indianapolis, Indiana. Ms. Murtlow serves as Vice President of IPL's parent company, AES Corporation.

Ms. Murtlow began her career as an engineer with Bechtel Power Corporation, one of the world's leading engineering and construction firms. After five years, she was recruited to AES Corporation headquarters in Arlington, Virginia to lead the environmental permitting activities for new power stations in the U.S. and abroad. Her career progressed into other areas of project and development, including commercial negotiations for engineering, procurement and construction services, fuel supply and transportation and non-recourse and multi-lateral project finance. In 1995, she successfully led the 180-MW, $400M AES Warrior Run Project to financial closing.

In 1997, Ms. Murtlow moved to AES' regional office in London, England; first as Senior Project Director responsible for business development in Europe and Africa, and then as the AES officer responsible for business development and operations in 22 Northern and Central European countries. During this time, she also served as the liaison to the AES Board of Directors on environmental issues.

In 2002, Ms. Murtlow was named President and Chief Executive Officer of IPL where she is focused on providing value to company stakeholders through operating excellence in the areas of safety, environmental performance, reliability, customer service, financial performance, employee engagement and community leadership. She is also the executive sponsor for AES' environmental, safety, and security networks across North America.

Ms. Murtlow is extensively involved in the community, serving as Co-Chair of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, and on the executive committees for the Indianapolis Zoological Society and Women's Fund of Central Indiana. In addition, she serves on the boards of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, The Mind Trust, Walker Information and the Central Indiana Community Foundation.

Ms. Murtlow received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Lehigh University in 1982.
