Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey on Bank Lending Practices
Results of the October 2002 surveyoffsite link on bank lending practices indicated further tightening of credit underwriting standards for commercial and industrial loans (C&I) and overall weaker loan demand. Domestic banks attributed the decline in C&I loans to reduced demand from creditworthy borrowers, while foreign institutions indicated that tighter lending standards played an important role.
