Identity Theft Booklet Released
The Board announced the release of a new booklet to help consumers protect themselves against identity theft. Available at no cost from the Boston Fed, "Identity Theft " (PDF) describes the dangers posed by identity thieves, what people can do to protect themselves, and what they should do if their identities have been stolen.
Fed Beige Book Released
The Board's latest Beige Book dated January 15, 2003 has all Districts reporting subdued growth in economic activity. As in the prior report, conditions in the Cleveland, New York and Philadelphia Districts continue to be more favorable than in the other Districts.
Niemeier Designated Acting Chairman of the Public Accounting Oversight Board
The Securities and Exchange Commission announced the designation of Charles D. Niemeier as Acting Chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board until a permanent chairman is selected to replace Judge William Webster, who previously resigned from the Board.
