FDIC and FBI Investigating Fraudulent E-mail Alerts
On January 23, consumers began contacting FDIC call centers in regard to e-mails they received stating that their FDIC insurance had been suspended, pending personal identity confirmation. The FDIC issued a press release in response to this attempted fraud.

Bush Administration Proposes Budget Increase for FinCEN
The Bush Administration recently announced that it will propose a 12.7% increase in the budget of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) to further strengthen its hand in the financial war on terror and other efforts against financial crime.
