Board to Request Public Comment on Risk-Based Capital Standards
In a press release, the Board announced a request for public comment on proposed revisions to the U.S. risk-based capital standards for banking organizations. These current standards are based upon the 1988 Basel Capital Accord, or Basel I. The modifications would apply to banks, bank holding companies, and savings associations.
Remarks by Governor Bies

Governor Bies comments on three regulatory issues of importance to both bankers and supervisors: credit risk, particularly in residential and commercial real estate; the proposed revisions to the current minimum regulatory capital requirements; and the new disclosures under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA).
