Agencies Release List of Distressed and Underserved Nonmetropolitan Middle-Income Geographiesoffsite link
The recently revised Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rules regarding the definition of "community development" now include certain distressed and underserved nonmetropolitan middle-income census tracts. The federal banking agencies announced the availability of the first list of these census tracts.

Agencies Encourage Insured Depository Institutions to Assist Displaced Customersoffsite link
In a press release, the federal and state banking agencies are asking insured depository institutions to consider all reasonable and prudent steps to assist customers' and credit union members' cash and financial needs in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.

FinCEN Reports on Investigation Resultsoffsite link
Pursuant to the USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN submits inquiries to financial institutions for assistance in identifying accounts and transactions of persons that may be involved in terrorism or money laundering. These inquiries have yielded productive leads for both terrorist financing and money laundering investigations.
