Subject: Proof of Concept — Enhancements to Call Report Data Delivery via Web Service
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Federal Reserve Board, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency recently agreed to create a proof-of-concept web service for delivery of Call Report data. The purpose of the proof-of-concept is to evaluate this method of providing data to interested public Call Report data users as a potential replacement for several current distribution mechanisms (National Technical Information Service, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, FDIC SAFE system). We expect to learn through this project and adjust our design approach to electronically distributing individual and bulk Call Report and other federal data based on our findings. We are not contemplating changing materially our just-released, browser-based web site that provides Call Report data for individual institutions.
Pursuant to this work we invite you to participate in a user's group through which the FFIEC's Public Data Distribution development team plans to:
- gather information about your preferences regarding delivery of the data, operation of the service, configuration of the data sets, and related matters,
- disseminate information to you about development of the web services and Public Data Distribution project, and
- test the proof-of-concept web service's operation (currently planned for the October-November 2007 time period).
If you have further interest in any of these topics and would like to receive future emails on this subject, please email ASneed@fdic.gov by August 30, 2007.
