MSW Site Receives Update

DECEMBER 14, 2007 — CHICAGO, IL — The Money Smart Week (MSW) team at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago has introduced a few new items to the MSW site. Most prominent are the homepage feature story (of which this is the first) and an updated calendar application for partners submitting events.

Rolled out on Friday, December 14, these changes are hoped to improve the experience for both consumers and partners who visit the site. The feature story and calendar application were put in place as part of a larger effort aimed at cleaning up and organizing older pages.

"Any Web site needs an occasional touch-up," said Chicago Fed Web Site Manager Patrick Maun. "The renovations to the Money Smart Week site were small enough that we can do them right away as opposed to waiting for a larger overhaul of ChicagoFed.org."

The feature story will be updated about every two weeks and looks to give readers some insight into the process of running a Money Smart Week campaign. Story topics will vary and are are expected to focus upon partner organizations, events, and financial education.

The calendar application includes a more streamlined, more powerful interface that includes in-line help for partners when entering events. A new consumer interface has been dressed up and will feature interactive Google Maps to help participants search for and find event locations.

Questions regarding the improvements — or suggestions for further improvements — are welcome and should be referred to Patrick Maun at the number and e-mail at right.
