Biography
Katy Jacob is a research specialist in the financial markets group at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Jacob’s research focuses on payments trends and consumer choice, financial institution strategy, money service businesses and underbanked populations. Prior to joining the financial markets group, she served in a similar capacity in the economic research department.
Before joining the Chicago Fed, Jacob was the research director of the Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI), an affiliate of ShoreBank Corporation. Prior to her work at CFSI, she served as Project Director of the Woodstock Institute. Jacob has published more than 25 papers on payments issues and consumer financial services.
Jacob received a B.A. in sociology and English from Macalester College and a masters in urban planning and policy with concentrations in economic development and community development from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
