Confronting the Foreclosure Crisis in Indiana
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago sponsored a free half-day conference which focused on efforts in Indiana to address the foreclosure crisis using foreclosure prevention and community stabilization programs. Representatives from academia, government, legal, mortgage counseling and private sectors highlighted the economic outlook for the U.S. and the state of Indiana; provided perspectives regarding the current system for foreclosure prevention and the potential impact of the current foreclosure legislation; and discussed how Indiana is using resources under the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 to mitigate the negative impact on communities when foreclosure is imminent.
