Wisconsin Moves Forward to Address Foreclosures
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the University of Wisconsin Extension, and Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority cosponsored an event during which participants continued to address the problems wrought by foreclosures in Wisconsin. This served as the joint plenary meeting for three separate task forces that are working on building an effective community response.

Public Hearing on Home Equity Lending Market
The Board held hearings under the Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act (HOEPA), which was enacted in 1994 in response to reports of predatory home equity lending practices in underserved markets. HOEPA amended the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) to impose additional disclosure requirements and limits on certain high-cost, home-secured loans. HOEPA also directs the Board to periodically hold public hearings to examine the home equity lending market and the adequacy of existing regulatory and legislative provisions for protecting the interests of consumers, particularly low-income consumers.
