Money Smart Week Iowa®

Money Smart Week® events take place in a variety of locations in Iowa, including Central Iowa, the Quad Cities and the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor. Events throughout the year held by our partners will be posted on this page. Be sure to save the date for next year's Money Smart Week®, taking place April 21-28!

Iowa Flash Report

Iowa recorded extremely impressive numbers during this past year’s Money Smart Week®. With 142 events, Iowa was able to attract more than 7,300 participants! In addition, Council Bluffs recorded an astounding attendance of more than 4,200. A highlight in Iowa was the Money Smart Investor Conference for women with keynote speaker Olivia Mellan. Check back often for updates on Iowa financial education information!

 

Ben Franklin Teaches Saving

"A penny saved is a penny earned," is a well-know quote of Ben Franklin. Ben have been visiting schools in Iowa to tell them why he thinks saving is so important.

What Time Is It?

Time to get smart with your money and learn how it can work for you! This year Money Smart Week will run April 2 - 9, 2011 with hundreds of events throughout the state of Iowa. With a variety of topics including investing, personal finance, teens and money, estate planning and more, you are bound to find one that is right for you. The online calendar of events is up and running, take a look and pick an event to attend today!

Poster Contest Asks Elementary Students about Money

The Community Bankers of Iowa  is partnering with DynaMinds Publishing to promote Money Smart Week to elementary students. Students in second through sixth grade have the chance to win a $200 savings bond for showing Iowa bankers what they think about money. As part of Money Smart Week 2011, elementary students can submit poster designs to banks and credit unions across Iowa.

 

Posters should answer the question: “There’s a lot to learn about money. What should you know now?”
