Money Smart Week Quad Cities®

Money Smart Week® events take place throughout the Quad Cities area. Check this page often for events hosted by partners throughout the year. Money Smart Week 2012 will take place April 21-28.

The Quad Cities continued their growing trend and recorded more than 1,600 participants this year. Men, women and children were in attendance as 27 engaging events were offered throughout the week. Excellent average attendance at the events was matched with equally impressive survey responses from participants who described the events they attended as valuable.

Elementary students will receive a visit this month from a very influential guest. A volunteer posing as Benjamin Franklin will teach the students the importance of saving as he reminds them that “a penny saved is a penny earned.” Ben will talk about spending wisely, hand out his comic books and take photos. These visits are also to remind students to get ready for MSW and also to promote the Money Smart Kid Essay contest. Ben will visit students in the Quad Cities, the Council Bluffs area, Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids and Central Iowa to promote financial literacy in schools.

Time to get smart with your money and learn how it can work for you! This year Money Smart Week will run April 2 - 9, 2011 with many events throughout the Quad Cities area. With a variety of topics including investing, personal finance, teens and money, estate planning and more, you are bound to find one that is right for you.
