Midwest Manufacturing Output Decreases in August
The Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index (CFMMI) decreased 0.3% in August, to a
seasonally adjusted level of 105.6 (2002 = 100). Revised data show the index increased 0.5%
in July, to 105.9. The Federal Reserve Board’s industrial production index for manufacturing
(IPMFG) was also down 0.3% in August. Regional output in August was 0.1% higher than
a year earlier, below the 1.6% increase in national output.
