Midwest Manufacturing Output Drops in August
The Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index (CFMMI) declined 2.6% in August, to a
seasonally adjusted level of 103.5 (2002 = 100). Revised data show the index increased 0.2%
in July, to 106.2. The Federal Reserve Board’s industrial production index for manufacturing
(IPMFG) decreased 1.0% in August. Regional output in August was 4.9% lower than a year
earlier, below the 1.7% decrease in national output.
