Mission of the Financial Markets Group

The Financial Markets Group studies financial markets, systemic risk and related public policy issues, with a particular focus on Chicago derivatives exchanges and clearinghouses. The Group's objective is to contribute to Federal Reserve System policy goals of:

  • Preventing and managing financial crises.
  • Mitigating payment system risk.
  • Ensuring safety and soundness of the financial system.

Our staff includes research economists, capital markets experts with background in financial regulation, and experienced practitioners. The Group also leverages relationships with Chicago area financial institutions and universities.
