Economic Research Department
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Economic Research department oversees the Bank's research in monetary policy, banking and financial markets, microeconomics and regional economics. In addition, the department has the supervisory responsibility for the Bank's community development and policy studies division and the public affairs department.
The group is responsible for producing timely, independent, innovative and accurate research and statistics that contribute to the formulation of sound economic, monetary, financial and regulatory policy. The department shares the results internally with the Reserve Bank president and externally to the business community and general public. The department also provides commentary and recommendations on current economic developments and policy issues.
