I head up a team of people responsible for executing monetary policy on behalf of the Federal Reserve System. Our group helps ensure that the Federal Reserve can conduct monetary policy in nearly any situation. We conduct trading operations to affect the level of reserves in the U.S. economy and influence interest rates prevalent in the US banking system. We also provide analysis on market conditions and help policy makers shape policy tools. I also serve as the C.O.O., so I have the opportunity to shape how we organize ourselves and how we interact with various support service providers such as information technology, human resources and legal to support our mission. I help guide our strategic planning process which is something I really enjoy. It’s a constant challenge to think about how we should transform our organization to meet the future needs of monetary policy and market analysis.
