Federal Reserve Police K9 Handler,
Law Enforcement Unit
- Where are you from? Chicago
- What is your educational background? I graduated from Mt. Carmel High School (Go Caravan!) and South Suburban Community College. I graduated from the Tarheel K9 Training Academy and the Canine Intelligence Academy Graduate.
- When did you start at the Bank? 2012
- What do you do at the Bank?
I am a police officer for the Federal Reserve Police Department assigned to the K9 Unit. I operate as canine handler providing explosives detection with Bella, the police dog assigned to me. We screen all the Federal Reserve’s deliveries and vehicles entering the property. We also perform routinely patrol of the surrounding community. We provide explosives detection for special events that affect the Federal Reserve System, and we respond to special requests for explosive detection based on unusual or suspicious circumstances.
- Why do you like working here? The Federal Reserve System gives me the opportunity to positively impact the Fed community members that I encounter every day. The Bank offers great benefits and programs that promote a healthy and cohesive work environment. Also, the Federal Reserve Police Department provides me with the training and knowledge I need to help maintain a safe environment for the Fed employees and the surrounding community. We are a rapidly growing department and I am honored to be a part of a police department that takes pride in its work. I wear my uniform with pride.
- Why would you recommend the Chicago Fed as a good place to work? The Fed is a good place to work because it provides me with a great support system to accomplish my goals.
- What do you do in your free time? If I can’t bike a trail, I’ll hike it! I also play goalie in the Chicago Fire Recreation Soccer League. I spend my free time training my canine partner Bella and traveling to hiking destinations.
