Our Mission

The mission of the Federal Reserve System is to foster the efficiency of the nation's monetary, financial and payment systems in order to promote a strong and stable economy.

To support this mission, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago:

  • Participates in the formulation and implementation of national monetary policy.
  • Supervises and regulates state member banks, bank holding companies and foreign bank branches.
  • Provides financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.

Our success depends on the skills and talents of many people from different backgrounds. These include central bank activities, financial services, support services and positions in special hiring programs.
