Fernando Arce is an economist in the economic research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. His research fields are macroeconomics, international economics, and international finance, and his current work focuses on international private debt, macroprudential policy, and sovereign default.

Arce received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Minnesota in 2021. He holds an M.Sc. in economics for development from the University of Oxford and a statistics and engineering degree from ENSAE ParisTech. Prior to joining the Chicago Fed, he was a research analyst (2017-2019) and visiting scholar (2019-2021) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
