Ellen Bromagen

First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Ellen Bromagen is first vice president and chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, a position she assumed in September 2015. In this role, she oversees the operational and financial performance of the Chicago Fed, including its Detroit Branch. She is also vice chair of the Bank's Executive Committee, a member of the Loan Committee that reviews district discount window lending and is backup to the Chicago Fed president in the execution of their monetary policy responsibilities. Bromagen is also a key contributor to formulation and advancement of the Bank’s strategic priorities and ensuring an inclusive environment where employees can do their best work.

Since joining the Chicago Fed in 1990, Bromagen has held a variety of management positions, spanning both local operations and national responsibilities, in the areas of corporate accounting, financial planning and payments. Prior to her appointment, Bromagen was the executive vice president and product manager of the Federal Reserve’s Customer Relations and Support Office.

Bromagen holds a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. from DePaul University.
