Meet Dagmara
SUPERVISION MANAGER,
SUPERVISION & REGULATION
Bank Supervision
  • Where are you from?

    Mielec, Poland

  • What is your educational background?

I have a B.S. in finance and economics from DePaul University.

  • When did you start at the Bank?

    2010

  • What do you do at the Bank?

My team and I are responsible for credit risk across a portfolio of state member community banks through ongoing monitoring of financial metrics as well as onsite examinations. The team, comprised of examiners with very strong credit backgrounds, reviews the quality of banks’ assets and assesses risk management practices to ensure that credit risk is appropriately identified, measured, monitored and controlled. We also help provide horizontal perspectives to other examiners and help facilitate training on new supervisory guidance or any new credit risks that our community banks may face.

  • Why do you like working here?

The Chicago Fed is truly a place that values constant growth and learning. My career is just one small example of this; During my tenure, I’ve not only been given countless opportunities to work on new or unique assignments, but I also have been supported with the right tools to succeed. Given the nature of what the Chicago Fed does, we continually have to learn and evolve so working in an environment that cultivates that is very exciting. The culture here also really values collaboration and as a result, we’re constantly surrounded by very smart people who are always eager to support each other in learning and growth. This is exactly the type of environment I like to be in.

  • Why would you recommend the Chicago Fed as a good place to work?

The work we do is important so it is really wonderful to be a part of an organization that strives for excellence while encouraging both collaboration and a healthy work-life balance. I’m able to accomplish my personal goals and feel challenged at work at the same time — something that can be particularly difficult when our mobile devices allow us to be “plugged in” at all times. The collaborative nature of our job also means that everyone gets to know each other really well. I’ve made some wonderful relationships here over the years and strongly believe that my colleagues at the Chicago Fed are a big reason why I really enjoy my work.

  • What do you do in your free time?

I’m an avid soccer fan and follow various domestic and international teams closely. I love to travel, discover all the new restaurants that Chicago has to offer, and spend time with family and friends. I’m also an avid reader and am slowly working toward my goal of having my own personal library.

  • What is your favorite quote or saying?
