Francisco (Paco) Buera is a senior economist and research advisor in the macroeconomics section of the economic research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He is on leave at Washington University in St. Louis until August 2018. His research interests include macroeconomic aspects of economic development. He is also an associate editor at the Review of Economic Studies and the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics.

Buera holds a B.A. from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, all in economics.
