Benjamin Chabot is an economist and senior policy advisor on the insurance and finance initiative at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Prior to joining insurance and finance initiative in 2016, he was a financial economist in the financial markets and banking group. His research interests include asset pricing, banking panics and exchange rates with an emphasis on historical financial markets, institutions and the impact of financial panics and innovations on economic growth.
Before joining the Chicago Fed in 2010, Chabot was an assistant professor at the University of Michigan and a visiting professor at Yale University. He is a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
Chabot received B.A. degrees in economics and history from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University.
