About
Stacie R. Behler is group vice president of Public Affairs and Communication for Meijer, Inc., and the executive director of the Meijer Foundation in Grand Rapids, Michigan. At Meijer, Behler has oversight of the five-state Meijer Political Action Committees, and manages the company’s political involvement and state and federal policy work. Behler also directs all of Meijer, Inc.’s community and philanthropic work, investing more than 6 percent of the company’s annual net profit back into the communities throughout the Midwest where Meijer stores are located. In addition, she manages all internal and external communications, including media relations and community, collegiate and professional sports partnerships, and promotions. Her work with the Meijer Foundation includes assisting the trustees in their engagement in arts, education, health, and economic development of communities in Michigan. Behler joined Meijer as senior legal counsel in 2001, directly handling or managing the company’s state and federal litigation matters. Prior to her work at Meijer, Behler was an attorney at the Grand Rapids litigation firm of Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, where she was responsible for the defense of corporate and governmental clients in bench and jury trials.
Behler’s board affiliations include: the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce; Heart of West Michigan United Way; Grand Rapids Economic Club; YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids; and the Michigan Women’s Foundation (MWF) and Power of 100 Women. She has co-chaired MWF’s 2010 and 2011 Women of Courage Award events in Grand Rapids. She was selected for the Inner Circle, a recognition given by Inforum (2009 and 2010); was recognized by the Grand Rapids Business Journal as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan (2012 and 2014); and was a finalist for the Athena Award (2013). Behler was appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder to the Michigan Municipal Services Authority (2010) and was elevated to chair of the MMSA (2014). She was recognized by Oakland University with the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award (2014). Behler is an honors graduate from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and received her law degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.
