About

LaTasha Brooks is a vice president in the Supervision and Regulation Department (S&R) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, with responsibility for supervisory and regulatory efforts related to the Chicago Fed’s oversight of large and foreign banking organizations, including non-LISCC domestic banking organizations with over $100 billion in total assets and foreign banking organizations with U.S. assets of over $50 billion. She transitioned into this role, effective January 2024, from her previous role of overseeing the regional holding companies and banks, savings and loan holding companies, insurance firms, and credit risk management. Brooks began her career with the Chicago Fed in 1999 as an assistant examiner, received an examiner’s commission, and over the course of her career served in various positions of increasing responsibility and complexity. She previously served in leadership roles within S&R, including the Oversight, Regional and Community Bank; Consumer Compliance and Community Reinvestment Act; and Large Financial Banking Organization divisions. Brooks advises on supervisory and process enhancements through her participation on various Federal Reserve System leadership committees, participates on management and steering groups to advance the quality of bank supervision, executes strategic priorities, and implements workforce strategies. She served as a member and sponsor of the Midwest Interagency Council from 2020 through 2023, advising on supervisory oversight and sharing of information across a diverse set of financial regulators. She provides mentorship as a member of the Board of Directors of The Sadie Collective and through the Financial Services Pipeline Initiative within the Federal Reserve System. As a member of the S&R Black Officer Group, Brooks demonstrates her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and was instrumental in the design and implementation of a career support program built to identify barriers to retention among underrepresented colleagues and to devise solutions to mitigate the lack of exposure and opportunities among a diverse array of individuals. She volunteers for interview and career preparation workshops and recently served on the Career Pathways in Business and Economics Roundtable with higher education administrators and hiring managers. Brooks holds a Bachelor of Science in economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a Certified Fiduciary and Investment Risk Specialist certification from the Cannon Financial Institute.
