Linda Likely formerly was a member of the Detroit Board of Directors. She is the director of Housing and Community Development for the Community Development Department and Housing Commissions. She is responsible for the overall management of the Housing and Community Development departments including the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, and Community Development Block Grant funding for 31 different local units of government within Kent County.
Prior to that, Likely was the executive director of the Kalamazoo Neighborhood Housing Service (KNHS) in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a position she had held since September 2001. Her professional background includes over fifteen years of non-profit management as well as economic development with the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce. Prior to assuming her role at KNHS, she directed the Grand Rapids LISC office.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Likely holds a bachelor's degree in Organizational Development/Human Resource Management and a master's degree in Public Administration. In 1999 she received the Society of Public Administrators "Practitioner of the Year" award.
Among her community affiliations, she has served as board member of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation from 2001 to the present.
