About
Ryan Maibach is the President and CEO of Barton Malow. A fourth-generation builder, Ryan began his career in his family’s business in 1997 upon graduation from Purdue University with a construction engineering degree.
Ryan started at Barton Malow as an intern in the summer of 1996 and was hired on full-time as a Project Engineer in February 1997. Prior to being appointed President of Barton Malow Company in 2011, Ryan also worked as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, Director of Specialty Contracting, and Vice President of Specialty Contracting and Industrial Operations. He worked on notable projects that include the Eastern Michigan Convocation Center, the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, the University of Michigan (U-M) Stadium Expansion, and the U-M Palmer Drive Development.
After being appointed President of Barton Malow Company, Ryan has worked to expand the enterprise through rapid alignment, strategic growth, and innovation. With an initial vision to establish a core purpose and values, more recently he set a vision for industry transformation. As part of this vision, Ryan led Barton Malow’s entity expansion in 2020, transforming it from one company into a group of companies. Today, the Barton Malow Group of Companies consists of nine operating entities – all built on a culture of empowerment, continuous improvement, and harnessing the full potential of each team member. His passion for positively impacting the industry is rivaled only by his unique ability to connect with team members and serve his community.
As a devoted member of the Detroit business community, Ryan also serves various organizations, including Business Leaders for Michigan, Detroit Regional Partnership, Detroit Regional Chamber, the Detroit Children’s Fund, and the Parade Company. He is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and co-chair of the YPO-HBS Family Enterprise Program.
Ryan has been recognized with numerous accolades throughout his career at Barton Malow, including being named to the “40 Under 40” lists of Building Design + Construction, Crain’s Detroit Business, and Engineering News-Record (Midwest region). More recently, he was honored as one of Crain’s Detroit Business’ 2023 “Newsmakers of the Year.”
