The Chicago Fed Survey of Economic Conditions (CFSEC) Activity Index decreased to +12 in May from +20 in April, suggesting that economic growth was above trend. The CFSEC Manufacturing Activity Index increased to +38 in May from +26 in April, but the CFSEC Nonmanufacturing Activity Index decreased to –5 in May from +16 in the previous month.
