David Currie is the chief information security officer (CISO) for Nubank—the largest fintech in Latin America, with over 40 million customers. Currie became Nubank’s CISO in 2020 after spending seven years as the Group CISO for the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX). Currie joined Nubank with an objective to continually evolve its cybersecurity defenses, ensuring they can meet the demands of a leading global financial services company. He is responsible for setting cybersecurity strategy, investment direction, and operations policies. He was previously the vice chair of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) Cyber Security Working Group, and he is a strong advocate for industry collaboration—which is essential to help manage systemically important risks. Currie started his career with ANZ Bank (Melbourne) before joining Barclays Bank (London); he then moved on to VISA Europe (London) before working for the HKEX Group (Hong Kong). Currie has over 20 years of experience as a security professional and holds a master’s degree in information security and cyber warfare.
Alonzo Ellis is a principal and the chief information security officer at the Vanguard Group. Ellis has 22 years of experience leading cybersecurity teams for financial institutions, including Citigroup. His expertise includes driving mission critical IT strategy, risk management, and business-facing initiatives encompassing business continuity, information security, and compliance across financial services disciplines ranging from wealth management and capital markets to retail banking, anti-fraud, and credit cards.
Eliis has managed several international assignments in Europe and Asia (he has visited 46 countries throughout his career) and led interactions between senior executives and regulators on large-scale IT security transformation programs. He holds three U.S. patents, has spoken at several security conferences, has founded and run a $29 million cybersecurity company, and has been interviewed and quoted as a subject-matter expert in IT security trade publications and mainstream media, such as InfoSecurity Magazine and the Wall Street Journal.
Ellis earned his BSEE from Cooper Union and his MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is a board member of Cradles to Crayons. He is also actively involved in giving back to the community and supports several charitable organizations, including the United Way.
