CHICAGO- More than 270 free classes and events that help consumers learn to manage their personal finances will be offered throughout the state during Money Smart Week® October 16-23.

The week is coordinated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, which serves most of Indiana, and hundreds of partner organizations dedicated to financial literacy. Seminars and activities will be carried out by representatives of more than 100 local and statewide community groups, financial institutions, not-for-profit organizations, businesses, schools, libraries, government agencies and media outlets. Almost all of the activities are free and are being held in cities and towns throughout the state, including Columbus, Elkhart, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Gary, Indianapolis, Lafayette, Merrillville, Plymouth, South Bend, Terre Haute, among others.

“Money Smart Week Indiana’s statewide and community-based efforts, as well as its partners’ commitment, will make this event a success again this year,” Chicago Fed President and CEO Charles Evans said. “We hope consumers of all ages, including children, will take part in this week’s diverse personal finance offerings.”
