2021 Community Bankers Symposium: Banking on the Future

We are pleased to announce the 15th Community Bankers Symposium, “Banking on the Future." The event will be virtual this year via WebEx. Senior policymakers, financial industry practitioners, and professionals from all associated regulatory agencies will participate in the event.

14th Annual Community Bankers Symposium

As in prior years, senior policymakers from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency were invited to participate at this event. Opening remarks were presented by Charles L. Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

The conference consisted of presentations on current industry developments and key bank supervision issues, and provided an opportunity for attendees to have a dialogue on areas of supervisory focus, the banking environment, and regulatory updates.

Thirteenth Annual Community Bankers Symposium

As in prior years, senior policymakers from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency were invited to participate at this event. Opening remarks were presented by Charles L. Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Other speakers included Jelena McWilliams, Chairman, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and Joseph Otting, Comptroller, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

The conference consisted of presentations on current industry developments and key bank supervision issues. The conference provided an opportunity for attendees to have a dialogue on areas of supervisory focus, the banking environment and regulatory updates.

Twelfth Annual Community Bankers Symposium

As in prior years, senior policymakers from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau were invited to participate at this event. Speakers included: Charles L. Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; Maryann Hunter, Deputy Director, Federal Reserve System Board of Governors; and Richard A. Brown, Chief Economist and Deputy Director for Regulatory Analysis, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Opening remarks will be provided by Charles L. Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

The agenda for the Symposium included a session on CECL, a panel comprised of Ombudsmen from the Regulatory Agencies, and a Consumer Compliance Regulatory panel. The conference provided an opportunity for attendees to have a dialogue on areas of supervisory focus, the banking environment and regulatory updates.

Speakers included Charles L. Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Thomas M. Hoenig, Vice Chairman, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and Thomas J. Curry, Comptroller, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Eigth Annual Community Bankers Symposium: Paving the Road Forward–Regulators and Community Banks Working Together

This year’s confirmed speakers included Charles L. Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Thomas J. Curry, Comptroller of the Currency and Carl R. Tannenbaum, Chief Economist, Northern Trust Company, and we were very pleased to have Governor Elizabeth A. Duke, Federal Reserve System, join this year’s event as a keynote speaker.

Sixth Annual Community Bankers Symposium: Lessons to Lead Us Forward

This year’s Symposium focused on Lessons to Lead Us Forward. As we continue to adjust to the recent financial crisis, including industry and regulatory changes, all parties will need to reflect upon and apply lessons learned to future endeavors. Topics are geared to an audience of board members, presidents and chief executive officers from state member and non-member banks, bank holding companies, regulatory agencies, and banking trade associations.

Fifth Annual Community Bankers Symposium

he Symposium theme was Are We There Yet? A frequent question in the current economic environment is, "When will the downturn end?" The symposium provided a venue to discuss your concerns and hear various perspectives on when we will get "there," including what "there" might look like.
