Identifies currently pending applications and notices that have been filed with the Chicago Fed and have open comment periods. The bulletin also discloses the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) examination ratings for state member banks whose CRA examination ratings became publicly available during the previous week. Each quarter, the bulletin lists the state member banks tentatively scheduled for a CRA examination during the upcoming quarter.

Bank Holding Company Data Releases

Data from 1986 to current are available as quarterly datasets in compressed zip files. Financial data are available for FR Y-9C—All domestic bank holding companies on a consolidated basis; FR Y-9LP—All large domestic bank holding companies on an unconsolidated parent only basis; and FR Y-9SP—All small domestic bank holding companies on an unconsolidated parent basis, including balance sheet and income information for all three catagories.

Brave-Butters-Kelley Indexes (BBKI)

The Brave-Butters-Kelley Indexes (BBKI) for the U.S. are constructed from a collapsed dynamic factor analysis of a panel of 500 monthly measures of real economic activity and quarterly real gross domestic product (GDP) growth. The Chicago Fed discontinued producing the BBKI after July 2022.

Call Report Data Releases

Report of Condition and Income (call reports) data are available for all banks regulated by the Federal Reserve System, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Comptroller of the Currency.

Chicago Fed Advance Retail Trade Summary (CARTS)

The Chicago Fed Advance Retail Trade Summary (CARTS) tracks the U.S. Census Bureau's Monthly Retail Trade Survey (MRTS) on a weekly basis, providing an early snapshot of national retail spending. Updates to CARTS are released at 10:00 a.m. ET on scheduled days. The first release of the month covers the entirety of the previous month, and the second release covers the first half of the current month.

Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index (CFMMI)

The Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index (CFMMI) was a monthly estimate by major industry of manufacturing output in the Seventh Federal Reserve District states of lllinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin. It was a composite index of 15 manufacturing industries that used hours worked data to measure monthly changes in regional activity.

Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI)

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI) is a monthly index designed to gauge overall economic activity and related inflationary pressure. The CFNAI is released at 8:30 a.m. ET on scheduled days, normally toward the end of each calendar month.

Chicago Fed Survey of Economic Conditions (CFSEC)

The Chicago Fed Survey of Economic Conditions (CFSEC) is a survey of organizations located in the Seventh Federal Reserve District. The Chicago Fed produces diffusion indexes based on the quantitative questions in the survey that are released at 10:00 a.m. ET on scheduled days, normally toward the end of each calendar month.

Detroit Economic Activity Index (DEAI)

The Detroit Economic Activity Index (DEAI) measured growth in economic activity for the city of Detroit.

Midwest Economy Index (MEI)

The Midwest Economy Index (MEI) was a monthly index designed to measure growth in nonfarm business activity in the Seventh Federal Reserve District. It served as a regional counterpart to the Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI).

National Financial Conditions Index (NFCI)

The Chicago Fed’s National Financial Conditions Index (NFCI) provides a comprehensive weekly update on U.S. financial conditions in money markets, debt and equity markets, and the traditional and "shadow" banking systems. The NFCI is updated on a weekly basis at 8:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, and covers the time period through the previous Friday.
