CHICAGO - A new app called “Create Your Own Currency” is now available in the iTunes store. It lets users customize their own dollar bills with a personal photo and learn about important security features that prevent counterfeiting.
“We created this app as a fun way for people to think about the different elements of paper currency as well as the security features that make it difficult to counterfeit,” said Cindy Ivanac, who leads the economic education program at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. “It’s also fun and easy to share on social media.”

This is the third app developed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in recent years. The other two are:
• “The Fed,” which provides easy access to a wide range of Federal Reserve information including speeches and news releases.
• “The Fed Museum,” which offers an interactive and engaging way to illustrate how the Federal Reserve System works.
