The Initiative focuses on the role that life insurers play in financial markets and as providers of retirement solutions. Life insurers hold a unique position in credit markets as one of the largest investors in long-duration assets which back the retirement-income products they sell. We study the evolving nature of these investments and how insurers manage the risks that arise from their liabilities. We share what we learn through research and data products.
The regular data products we produce for life insurers include: interest rate sensitivities, industry annuity surrender rates, and private placement holdings.
The property and casualty sector acts as a conduit of risk mitigation for businesses, households, and financial markets and is essential to a healthy economy. Insurance helps businesses function and makes it possible for households to obtain loans. Our work focuses on how insurers transfer risk and the implications of changing insurance markets for households and businesses. We provide regular data updates on auto and homeowners insurance that offer timely and granular looks into changing market conditions
The regular data products we produce on property and casualty insurance include: national auto insurance rate changes, national homeowners insurance rate changes, and average homeowners insurance premiums by county.
